Late summer is so peculiar, such a bittersweet transition. The days are getting shorter. The breeze carries a chill on its back. The earth ripens for harvest and our forests transform into towers of fiery splendor.
Our warm days are fleeting. So we embrace the days that the sun is shining while keeping the notion of winter's inevitable frigidity in the backs of our minds.
I find myself embracing every day that the sun is shining, by moving my work space outdoors.
I cherish my old tools. They have served me well, and continue to amaze me. (Even as heavy as they are.)
Today I spent a great deal of time hammering metal pieces, giving the rustic copper an imperfectly beautiful finish. Finally I torched them to bring out the true tone of the metal. Their color is reminiscent of autumn leaves along the shoreline of Lake Michigan.
The finished product - my labor of love. All of these pairs are available in my online store. This minimalist style is a new favorite- letting each small piece speak entirely for itself. The unrestricted movement that it gives each piece is whimsical and carefree.
